We Brits take our pies very seriously and even have a week dedicated to our savoury to prove it.
In 2016 a petition entitled: 'Make wrongly describing a casserole with a pastry lid as a pie a criminal offence' achieved 5,687 signatures.
"For too long customers in pubs and restaurants have ordered what is described on the menu as a pie only to be served with casserole in a pot covered by a puff pastry lid. This is not a pie and is also curiously difficult to consume."
The Oxford English Dictionary describes a pie as "A baked dish of fruit, or meat and vegetables, typically with a top and base of pastry."
You'll be pleased to know, therefore, that our pies are fully encased in a delicious layer of pastry! Celebrate British Pie Week 2017 with us and choose from:
Chicken and Mushroom (large and small)
Steak and Kidney
Steak and Potato
Steak and Ale
Steak and Blue Cheese
Please note that our Eckington shop only stocks the plain steak pie (large), pork pie and Huntsman pie.
